Questions about inspection repairs
What does the electrical part of an inspection report cover?
The panel, breakers, outlets, switches, visible wiring, GFCIs and alarms. The inspector looks and notes; they don't open walls.
Do I need a permit, and who pulls it?
Some repairs need one and some don't. Where Kansas City or your city asks for one, we pull it, and the city inspects the work.
Will my insurer care about the wiring?
Some insurers ask about older wiring. That's a question for your insurer. We can tell you what's in the walls.
What does the visit cost, and is it credited?
There is a visit fee, told on the call before we come. If you book the repairs with us, it is credited toward the work.
What happens at the visit?
We read the report with you, open the panel and test the outlets the report names. Then you get a quote in writing.
Are you licensed and insured, and how do I check?
Yes. The license is in the footer of every page. Check it with the City of Kansas City, Missouri.
Do you do emergency work?
No. We work the repair list in the posted hours. If you see sparks, a burning smell or scorch marks, call 911 for fire. If it is safe, turn off the breaker.
What is knob-and-tube, and is it dangerous?
It is old wiring on porcelain knobs with no ground. Not every run is live or unsafe. We tell you what we find and what the options are.
How do I send the report?
Text photos of the pages to (816) 555-0101, or use the form on the contact page.
Still have a question?
Call or text. A real person answers, in office hours.
